Kansas City, Mo. -- The UMKC women's soccer team fell 3-1 to Oral Roberts on Thursday night at Durwood Soccer Stadium and Recreational Field. The Kangaroos drop to 1-16-1 on the season and 1-7 in The Summit League. Alyson Russell scored her second goal of the season in the 65th minute to avoid the shutout.
Oral Roberts got on the scoreboard early with Jessica Harthcock scoring in the seventh minute. The Golden Eagles jumped to a 2-0 lead in the 24th minute after Natalya Manyan dribbled down field and slotted the ball underneath UMKC goalkeeper Jami Finnell.
Russell's goal came in the 65th minute and came just in time, giving the Kangaroos some momentum. But Oral Roberts would tack on an insurance goal just one minute later following chaos in the UMKC six-yard box.
Despite the loss, Finnell recorded six saves on the evening. The Kangaroos recorded five shots with four of them being placed on net.
