
Kangaroos Close Out Regular Season With Ladies On Saturday

Kansas City, Mo. -- The UMKC women's soccer team will close out the 2009 regular season at home on Saturday with Centenary. The Kangaroos host the Ladies on Sat., Oct. 31 at 3 p.m. UMKC is coming off of a 3-1 loss to Oral Roberts.
UMKC is currently 1-16-1 on the season and 1-7 in league play, The Kangaroos secured their first program win against Southern Utah on Oct. 16. This season scoring for the `Roos has been Zaina Mayer (5 goals), Alyssa D'Egidio (2), Alyson Russell (2 goals) Meagan Shipley (1 goal) and Ariel Rank (1 goal).
Back-to-Back Goals for the `Roos
This is the second time this season that UMKC has scored back-to-back goals. Zaina Mayer recorded her fifth goal of the season in the loss to North Dakota State on Oct. 25 and then last night Alyson Russell scored her second goal of the year. The last time UMKC scored back-to-back goals was in Sept. Mayer scored in the 1-1 tie to South Dakota on the 20th and then Meagan Shipley scored her first collegiate goal the following game against Drake on the 24th.
Quality vs. Quantity
In its inaugural season, the Kangaroos haven't led their opponents in very many categories. While UMKC has been out shot 441-103 this season, its shot-on-goal percentage ranks superior to opponents. With one game remaining on the schedule, the `Roos have a .534 shot percentage (55-103) compared to a .463 shot percentage (204-441) by their opponents.
Kangaroos In The Summit League
As a team, UMKC leads The Summit League overall in team saves with 153 headed into the game with Centenary. Jami Finnell continues to lead the league overall in saves and saves per game. The freshman has 151 saves on the year and is recording 8.53 saves per game in the back.

The Ladies are 10-5-1 on the season and 2-4-1 in The Summit League. Centenary had a great start to the 2009 season, going on a five-game winning streak. Katie Valdez leads the Ladies with nine goals and nine assists for 27 points this season.
Centenary has been splitting duties in the back between Kate Donnelly and Deb Hill. Donnelly has given up 10 goals, recorded 70 saves and is 5-2-1 this season. Hill has given up 13 goals, recorded 49 saves and is 5-3 on the season. The Ladies are coming off of a 2-1 win at Southern Utah.

`Roos Fall To Golden Eagles Despite Russell Goal
The UMKC women's soccer team fell 3-1 to Oral Roberts on Thursday night at Durwood Soccer Stadium and Recreational Field. The Kangaroos drop to 1-16-1 on the season and 1-7 in The Summit League. Alyson Russell scored her second goal of the season in the 65th minute to avoid the shutout.
Oral Roberts got on the scoreboard early with Jessica Harthcock scoring in the seventh minute. The Golden Eagles jumped to a 2-0 lead in the 24th minute after Natalya Manyan dribbled down field and slotted the ball underneath UMKC goalkeeper Jami Finnell.
The Kangaroos got on the scoreboard with Russell's goal but Oral Roberts would tack on an insurance goal just one minute later following chaos in the UMKC six-yard box.
Despite the loss, Finnell recorded six saves on the evening. The Kangaroos recorded five shots with four of them being placed on net.
