Steve Stroud was named the Associate Athletics Director for Advancement at UMKC on Aug. 28, 2007. He joins the Kangaroo staff after spending the past four-and-a-half years as an Assistant Athletics Director for Annual Giving at the University of Memphis.
While at Memphis, Stroud was responsible for increasing the annual donations by 40 percent from 2004-07. He oversaw an increase from $4 million to $5.6 million, which included a 10 percent increase in each of the last three fiscal years. In addition, Stroud created a new donor level at $15,000 annually, bringing in over 60 members in year one.
Stroud also assisted in the launch of a new athletic capital campaign at Memphis, which is nearing 80 percent of its $12 million overall goal. Upon arriving at UM, Stroud completely rebranded the athletic annual fund by coming up with a new name, logo, donor benefits and overall donor stewardship focus.
In addition to his annual giving role, Stroud coordinated priority seating and parking for men's basketball, including the seating and later reseating of the new FedExForum. He also implemented a new priority seating program for football, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the plan.
Prior to his move to Memphis, Stroud was the Assistant Director of Annual Giving at the University of Miami. At this stop, he helped increase annual giving from $2.5 million to over $4 million, while serving as the top contact for the school's top donors.
He also coordinated two separate building campaigns seeking a total of $58 million and assisted in the procurement of a $4 million naming rights gift. Stroud also helped to create a new volunteer representative program, where he served as the main contact for four regional chapter.
Stroud received his bachelor of business administration degree from the University of Georgia in May of 2000. He earned his masters of science in sports administration from St. Thomas University in December 2001.
Stroud and his wife, Deirdre, have a son, Carter, and they're expecting a second child in November.
