No. 14 Kansas City takes on 12th ranked Bears for an In-State Rivalry
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Kansas City Men's Soccer team travels to Springfield to take on the No. 12 Bears of Missouri State. Kickoff from Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium is scheduled for 6 PM.
Kansas City heads into the next edition of the rivalry with Missouri State after an undefeated week that included one of the biggest matches & wins in program history: a 3-1 win over then No. 10 Michigan State. The Roos took advantage early with a header that found the back of the net in the ninth minute by Mariano Beuzna, assisted by Brevyn Cole. KC would then find a crucial second goal in the 38th minute of the match by way of Italian Gabriele Galluccio, who was found running at the top of the box and put it top bins, assisted by Mahki Francis & Brevyn Cole for his second assist of the match. Michigan State would find a goal back in the 56th minute, but KC would seal the game away in the 85th minute after Bryson Gosch found FC Dallas product Bryce Outman at the back post. The result was Kansas City's second result in as many weeks, as they previously secured a 1-1 draw on the road at the time No. 3 SMU.
The Roos have scored 13 goals this season and have yet to be shut out in the opening six games of the season. They have only allowed five goals this season, including three shutouts. Nine different Roos have scored this season; Ian Witis-Hughes, Mariano Beuzna, and Raphael Kristman have all scored multiple times. Goalkeeper Brandon Kincaid has made 12 saves this season while facing 62 shots; only 17 have been on target. Kansas City averages 14.7 shots per game, which is 38th in the country and first in the Summit League.Â
