FAYETTE, Mo. -- Kansas City Track & Field put together a well rounded performance, excelling on multiple fronts at the CMU Invite this past Friday. The Roos were responsible for eight top three finishes with Naomi Eyangho and Mackenzie Doolin leading the way in the women's field events. Eyangho was atop the pack in the shot put, throwing a Summit-leading 14.69-meter toss in the first event of the day. Not only was it Eyanagho's career best throw for outdoors but it was also a new school record, surpassing the prior program-best of 14.28 meters by Dahlia Dyson in 2015.Â
Doolin followed that up by taking first in the high jump, leaping over the bar at a pace of 1.57 meters to lead all competitors in the event. KC kept the momentum going into the track events with M.J. Foster totaling a 15000-meter dash time of 3:58.82, taking second place in the race and grabbing the seventh fastest time for the event in the conference in the process. Kansas City's sprinting team continued to go on a heater as Brendan Badie nailed down a third place time of 53.02 seconds which is also good for the top time in the conference for the 400-meter hurdles.Â
The 100-meter dash proved to be another highlight for the Roos with defending outdoor 200-meter gold medalist Tory Lanham darting a time of 10.25 seconds, the best time in the Summit League. While the time is fast enough to be KC's program record, a +3.6 m/s wind speed disqualifies the time in the school record books but it still counts for NCAA qualification. Stephen Clunis, the Summit's defending 60-meter champion notched a 10.32 second time in the 100-meter dash finals, good for second place overall.Â
The Roos also performed well in the relay races as the men's 4x100-meter relay team racked up a time of 40.46 seconds while the women's 4x400-meter relay team ran a time of 3:57.52 to wrap up Kansas City's strong day at Central Methodist.Â
