
Belmont, Cleary Achieve Personal Bests at WashU Distance Carnival

The Roos distance runners earned career-best times in the 3000-meter steeplechase and 10000-meter dash respectively
WASHINGTON, Mo. -- Kansas City Track & Field had two runners compete at the WashU Distance Carnival over the past two days. Mariah Belmont and Sam Cleary ran in the 3000-meter steeplechase and 10000-meter dash respectively, both setting personal records in the process.Â
Belmont finished the race in 10th place, running a career-best time of 11:00.53, shaving over three seconds off her prior personal best time. Belmont finished 8th in the Summit League in the event last season as a freshman and currently ranks second in the 3000-meter steeplechase Summit rankings.Â
Likewise, Cleary delivered a personal record in the 10000-meter dash, going for a time of 30:42.21 to place him in 29th amongst the competition in Washington. Cleary is now the top runner in the Summit for the 10,000m event, and the lone league runner to notch a sub-31 minute time in the event.Â
