Petty Goes for 18 on Senior Night Against Oral Roberts

Karmello Branch went for 22 and Jayson Petty added 18 points for the Roos
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Men's Basketball (4-26, 1-15 Summit) dropped the final game of the regular season to Oral Roberts this evening, 94-70. The Roos honored seniors Addarin Scott, Jerome Palm, Kasheem Grady II and Jayson Petty prior to the game and Petty followed the ceremony up with 18 points on 4-of-7 three-point shooting. Karmello Branch went for a team-high 22 points, adding a career-high five assists.
Oral Roberts got out to a quick start, beginning the game on an 11-point run. CJ Evans got the Roos on the board with 13:39 remaining in the half and Petty gave the Roos their first three of the game two possessions later. The Golden Eagles built the lead to as many as 20 points in the half, but the Roos finished the frame on an 11-4 run to draw within 13 at the break.
Kansas City continued chipping away at the deficit to begin the second half, drawing within seven on a three-pointer by Petty with 17:51 remaining. ORU took advantage of Kansas City miscues and built the lead back up to 19 points, but the Roos stayed in the game and got as close as 11 on a layup from Scott midway through the half. The Golden Eagles finished strong, taking the win and the season sweep over KC.
Branch and Petty were responsible for the entirety of the Roos' three-point shooting, going a combined 9-of-17 from deep. Evans went for 11 points to close out the Roos' double-digit scorers, adding five assists of his own.
Kansas City's postseason journey begins on Wednesday with a rematch against the eighth-seeded Golden Eagles in Sioux Falls, S.D.
