Jayson Petty dropped a team-high 14 points in the loss
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The 2025-26 campaign came to a close for #9 Kansas City (4-27, 1-15 Summit) this evening against eighth-seeded Oral Roberts (10-22, 4-12 Summit), 84-62. The Roos were led by third-year Roo Jayson Petty in the scoring column, going for 14 points on the night.
The Golden Eagles jumped out to an early lead that would never be erased, going into halftime with a 44-21 lead. Kansas City was hampered by 33.9% shooting from the field, and 6-of-24 shooting from long range.
Nine of the 10 Roos that saw the court this evening reached the scoring column, led by Petty's 14. Chris Dockery followed closely behind him, going for 11 points and a team-high six rebounds. He also blocked a pair of shots and came away with two steals, putting together a well-rounded game.
The Marvin Menzies era comes to a close in Kansas City, four seasons after becoming the eighth head coach in program history in 2022-23. His tenure is marked by a 2023-24 Summit League Coach of the Year honor, just the second coach in program history to win the league's top coaching title.
Four Roos - Jerome Palm, Addarin Scott, Kasheem Grady II and Jayson Petty - were honored on Senior Night last week. Palm and Scott contributed the final years of their collegiate careers to Kansas City. Grady gave the Roos a pair of seasons and joined Petty as the lone returners on this year's squad. Petty, the 2023-24 Summit League Freshman of the Year, started in 63 of the Roos' last 64 games and finishes the 2025-26 season with 906 points on his career.
