Lanham Sprints New Personal, School Indoor 200M Record at Tyson Invitational

Tory Lanham runs a time of 20.85, breaking his prior indoor best of 20.93
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Kansas City Track & Field saw another school record broken from Tory Lanham this season as the sophomore sprinter took the tape in 20.85 seconds, breaking his own personal and school record of 20.93 in the process. Lanham had his first 200-meter dash of the season last week, coming in hot with a time of 20.93 seconds, which tied his previous indoor personal record. Lanham has now topped that mark by running a 20.85 time in Fayetteville this weekend.
The former Oak Park HS product re-sets the top mark in the Summit League for this indoor season and jumps up to a share of 28th in the 200m nationally. Lanham's career-best time in the 200m overall is 20.33, which he set back in last year's outdoor season at the NCAA West Preliminary to secure a spot in the national meet.Â
Elsewhere in the Tyson Invitational, KC's Junior Powell cracked the sub-seven second mark in the 60-meter dash, running a time of 6.97 seconds on Friday. The Roos also ran the 4x400-meter relay race on Saturday, clocking a time of 3:15.79 at the Tyson Invitational.Â

In Topeka, Naomi Eyanagho led the Roos in both the shot put and the long jump with marks of 12.54 and 5.21 meters respectively. Eyanagho's long jump mark was just shy of her personal best which sits at 5.22 meters. Brant Wilson registered a long jump mark of 6.80 meters to finish top 20 in the event. Mackenzie Doolin led KC in the high jump, recording a jump of 1.61 meters.Â

Saturday afternoon saw several Roos give great efforts on the track and in the field. Eyanagho delivered a shot put throw of 14.00 meters right on the dot, good for sixth place in the event. Brooke Williams took a turn in the triple jump and came away with a mark of 11.40 meters, good for ninth place in the event. On the track side, Kai White ran a 800-meter dash time of 1:53.58, good for 15th place in the event and less than a second away from his personal record.Â
Kansas City will return to the track and the field late next week for the Nebraska Tune Up on Friday.Â
