Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City looks to get to 2-0 in Summit League play this Saturday as the Roos host South Dakota for the second Summit tilt of the season. Kansas City is coming off a strong conference opener, taking down Omaha in a thrilling 61-59 finish.Â
- Kansas City took Omaha down to the wire and came up with the clutch time victory thanks to Elauni Bennett's 18-point and 10-rebound performance. It's the junior guard's fourth double-double and eighth of her career. Tierra Trotter chipped in 12 points and six assists while Emani Bennett tallied 11 points and three steals to help the Roos best the Mavericks on New Year's Eve.
- Elauni Bennett is one of two players in the Summit League and three players nationally to average at least 16 PPG, 7.5 RPG and shoot 62% from the field. Bennett averages that 16 points, 7.6 rebounds a contest while shooting 62.3% from the floor and starting every game this season for the Roos.
- Emani Bennett is chasing the 1,000 career points landmark. The junior guard out of Lee's Summit, Mo. is sitting at 990 career points in 78 career games played and 69 career starts. Bennett would be the 18th player in program history to achieve the feat and do so in the fourth fewest games played.Â
- Last time KC played USD in the Swinney Center it was an emphatic 77-54 win with Emani Bennett scoring a team-high 24 points while grabbing five rebounds and shooting 9-15 from the floor and going 4-5 from three point range against the Coyotes.Â
South Dakota Notes
- South Dakota is 10-4 in the 2025-26 season in what will be the Coyotes Summit League opener. USD is coming off back-to-back wins over UTRGV 71-44 and College of Saint Mary (Neb.) 95-42.Â
- South Dakota has the Summit's top defense according to the numbers, ranking first in opponents points per game (54.6), opponent field goal percentage (31.1%) and opponent three point percentage (27.7%).
- Angelina Robles leads the Coyotes in points, assists and steals. Robles averages 14.9 points per game, 2.5 assists per game and 1.5 steals per game.Â
- South Dakota was picked to finish fourth in the Summit League this season under second year Head Coach Carrie Eighmey who has totaled over 250 career wins prior to the start of this season.
