Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City Men's Soccer is back in action on the road on Friday evening, taking on No. 24 Portland after a three-game home stand that saw the Roos post a 2-0-1 record that included a win over then-No. 24 Missouri State.
- Despite a still undefeated record, the Roos have dropped out of the United Soccer Coaches' top-25 poll, receiving five votes. Kansas City is still ranked in two other systems, holding the No. 19 ranking in the TopDrawerSoccer poll and the No. 17 spot in the College Soccer News rankings.
- The Roos claimed a 2-1 over NIU on Labor Day, thanks largely to the first career brace from Jeremy Francou. He scored in the 7th and the 44th minutes, the sixth and seventh goals of his collegiate career. He has placed five shots on goal this season, scoring on three of them.
- Gabriele Galluccio logged his fourth assist of the season on Francou's first goal before leaving the game in the 12th minute due to an ankle injury. Galluccio is tied for first in the nation and is one of just 10 players in the NCAA with four assists on the year.
- Marc Popow faced a season-high 18 shots in Monday's win and was called into action for five saves, the most of his four career starts. The freshman has played every minute of action so far for KC.
- Kenny Yedmel was named the Summit League's Defensive Peak Performer of the Week on Sept. 2, earning the first weekly award of the season for a Kansas City player. He was the first non-goalie from Kansas City to earn player of the Week honors since Seth Kacich in 2022.
Portland Notes
- Portland holds an unblemished 4-0 record entering Friday's match, boasting wins over Central Arkansas and Wisconsin.
- The Pilots are led by 10th-year head coach Nick Carlin-Voigt, who has led the team to five NCAA Tournament appearances in his time at Portland.
- Portland is led offensively by Joe Highfield, who has four goals and three assists on the year.
- The Pilots are yet to allow a goal on the year with Miguel-Angel Hernandez and Massimo Oedekoven Pomponi combining for four shutouts.
- This will be the first-ever meeting between the Roos and the Pilots.
