Roos prep for pair of final tuneups before Summit League Indoor Championships
Kansas City Track & Field looks to double dip this weekend as the Roos head to both the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. and the Ichabod Invitational in Topeka, Kan. for their final action before the Summit League Indoor Championships. The Roos will see a small group of short distance sprinters and relay runners compete at Arkansas and a team of jumpers and distance runners go to work at Washburn.Â
Roos To WatchÂ
- Tory Lanham - After re-setting the Roo record books at last weekend's Missouri Invitational with a time of 20.93 in the 200-meter dash, Lanham was awarded with his third Summit League Kwik Star Peak Performer of the Week honor of the indoor season. Lanham bests a top 30 time in the country for the 200m and has notched a sub-21.10 time three times this indoor season.Â
- Stephen Clunis - Clunis has been a model of consistency in the 60-meter dash this season for the Roos and last weekend was no exception. The junior sprinter boasted a time of 6.70 at the Missouri Invitational, marking the fourth time Clunis has recorded a 6.70 second time or lower in the 60m this indoor season. Clunis will look to break his program record time of 6.66 that he set back at the Bob Timmons Challenge.Â
- Stephen Brown - Brown has showcased remarkable versatility this season, showcasing excellent marks in both the 60 and 200-meter dashes. Brown registered two season-bests in both events at the Missouri Invitational, taking the tape at a lightning pace of 6.72 seconds in the 60m and 21.27 in the 200m. Brown's time of 21.27 trails only Lanham for the second best time in program history for the 200m.Â
- Jaleesa McWashington - McWashington will once again compete in the 60-meter hurdles, long and triple jump events at the Ichabod Invitational. The fifth year veteran's best jump marks this season came at the Alexis Jarrett Invitational for the long jump where McWashington lept a mark of 5.66 meters. In the triple jump, McWashington sprang a jump of 11.64 meters at the Washburn Open. Â
- Brooke Williams - Williams is coming off a career-best triple jump performance in the Roos last meet back at the Iowa State Classic last weekend. Williams posted a triple jump mark of 11.85 meters, good for the seventh best mark in the Summit League this indoor season. Williams has recorded four triple jump marks over the 11.20 meter mark this season, including an excellent mark of 11.65 meters at the Bob Teel Invitational.Â
- Harper Barlow - Barlow has run three times in three separate events this indoor season. Her first outing came at the Washburn Open where the sophomore ran a 12:49.48 DMR time. Barlow also ran a 2:21.92 in the 800-meter dash at the Missouri Invitational and a 5:18.96 in the mile race at the Iowa State Classic. Barlow will look to improve on her 5:18.96 mile time at the Ichabod Invitational.
