Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City Volleyball hosts Oral Roberts for the second time this season on Thursday night at 7 p.m. in the Swinney Center. For the Roos, it will be a chance to break a four match losing streak and to sweep the season series with the Golden Eagles.
- Kansas City earned their first and lone sweep of the season last time out against Oral Roberts. The Roos played some of their most effective volleyball of the season, taking the match 25-20, 25-14, 25-19. Ledisi Kpea notched seven kills on a .500 hitting percentage and 2.5 blocks while Alaina Larson reached 16 digs in the contest.
- Kansas City won the last match these two teams played in the Swinney Center in October of 2024. The Roos swept the Golden Eagles 3-0, including a 16 point margin of victory in set two.
- Lyla Jones reached the landmark 1,000 career assist milestone on October 21 vs. Omaha. The senior setter eclipsed the mark on her third dime of 20 total in the match.
- Jones leads the team in assists with 417 dimes this season, ranking as the seventh best mark in the Summit League in 2025. Additionally, Jones has posted a 4.85 assists per set mark, ranking inside the top 10 in the conference.
- Kansas City continues to be steady defensively, racking up 1,232 total digs which ranks second in the conference while also notching 14.33 digs per set which ranks fourth best in the Summit League this season.
- Alaina Larson ranks eighth in the Summit League in digs at 266 while holding a steady rate of 3.13 digs per set in 2025 which ranks as the ninth best mark in the conference. Larson has produced 13 matches of double figure digs including a career-best 25 dig outing against Saint Louis.
- Ledisi Kpea anchors the Roos defense, ranking fifth best in the Summit League in total blocks at 84 while averaging 0.98 blocks per set which ranks seventh best in the conference. Kpea's 17 solo blocks is also tied for the 2nd best mark in the conference.
- The redshirt-sophomore middle blocker also leads the team in points at 210.5 and 2.45 points per set. Kpea is also the squad leader in hitting percentage at .256, the only Roo above the .200 clip this season.
- Ryanne Wattree leads the Roos offense with 179 kills and a kills per set rate of 2.13, both team highs this season. The sophomore has produced seven matches of double figure kills to date in her breakout year two campaign.
- Oral Roberts is 2-22 in the 2025 season and remains winless in conference action, sitting at 0-12. The Golden Eagles last victory came in a sweep over UAPB on September 23.
- Oral Roberts gives up 2.48 blocks per set against their oppnents, the highest mark in the Summit League. The Golden Eagles produce 1.14 blocks per set, the lowest figure in the conference this season.
- The Golden Eagles have control of the all-time series against Kansas City with a 44-13 record against the Roos. ORU's last win over KC came on October 12, 2024 in a 3-1 win.
- Julia Carr ranks second in the Summit League in digs at 292 this season. Carr has recorded 3.68 digs per set which is the fourth best mark in the conference this season. The Roos limited Carr to only eight digs in their previous matchup, her fourth lowest output of the season.
- Coyotes head coach Leanne Williamson is on the verge of making Summit League history as she sits just two wins away from becoming the conference's winningest coach. Williamson enters this week with 247 career wins and 145 Summit League victories.
- Through 12 Summit League matches, the Coyotes are holding opponents to the second lowest hitting percentage in the conference at .186.
- USD leads the conference in digs per set during conference play (15.43), are No. 2 in kills per set (13.68) and No. 3 in blocks per set (2.06).
- The Coyote backrow is among the NCAA's elite ranking No. 19 nationally in digs per set at 16.61. USD ranks No. 22 in total digs with 1,528. USD leads the Summit League in both categories.
