Kansas City, MO - The Roos head into week two of conference play 1-0 after defeating Oral Roberts in a sweep last Saturday, this week they host North Dakota Thursday October 1st. Kansas City (7-6) hosts the North Dakota Fighting Hawks (6-7). North Dakota is looking to bounce back after starting 0-2 in Summit League with losses to Omaha and St Thomas. The Roos look to continue their winning ways propelled by their defensive effort.Â

Kansas City heads into this one maintaining their peak defensive form. They currently sit second in the Summit League in opponent hitting percentage, digs, and blocks while also sitting third in the conference for opponent service aces. They look to improve their offensive output this week as they currently sit fifth in points and seventh in hitting percentage hitting .191 throughout the first 13 games.Â

Defensively the Roos' feature two players currently top 12 in the Summit League for digs. Chloe Kaminski is currently first in the conference with 220 digs and Mia Weaver currently sits 11th with 138. Stella Smith has also been a major factor on the defensive side currently sitting second in the Summit League in blocks with 46.

Kansas City's Ryanne Wattree continues to have a successful season after a 16 kill performance hitting .464. Wattree currently sits third for hitting percentage in the conference with a .322. As a whole Kansas City hit well last time out with three players hitting .400 and above (Stella Smith, Natalie Ptaek, and Wattree), they look to continue that offensive momentum into the games this week.Â

The Fighting Hawks come into this game sitting 6-7. They are led by head coach David Nguyen who came to North Dakota after a successful stint as Farliegh Dickinson's head coach where he guided them to their first tournament appearance, won them their first NEC conference tournament in 2022, and their first regular season title in 2023.Â
