Roos Mount Massive Fourth Quarter Comeback to Take Down NDSU

Kansas City outscored NDSU by 17 in the final frame to take down the Bison, previously unbeaten in Summit play
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City Women's Basketball (7-13, 3-2) secured a sweep on the week, notching its second comeback win and locking down North Dakota State (12-6, 4-1) in the fourth quarter to defeat the Bison, 56-51. The Roos held NDSU without a field goal in the fourth quarter with 0-of-6 shooting. Ana Oliveira Dias reclaimed the lead for the Blue and Gold when it counted most, notching her third steal of the game with 24 seconds left, driving it back for the layup.
The win marks KC's first regular season victory over NDSU since Feb. 19, 2022, when the Roos defeated the Bison 76-67 in the Swinney Center. The Roos were able to surmount a 16-point NDSU lead which they held with 5:12 remaining in the second quarter. It becomes Kansas City's first win after trailing by at least 15 in the first since March 3, 2023, when KC defeated Denver, 66-65 after trailing by 16 with 7:35 left in the second quarter.
Emani Bennett led the Roos with 16 points and six rebounds. She was joined by Alayna Contreras and Tamia Ugass in the double-digits who earned ten points each. Contreras led the team in assist with four and Oliveira Dias earned a game-high three steals. Kansas City's win matches last year's Summit League win total with three and is off to its best start to league play since the 2019-20 when the Roos went 3-2 across the first five games.

She poked the ball away and tracked it down, earning her third steal of the day. Oliveira Dias then took the ball back down the court hitting her layup and putting the Roos up by one. Ugass and Em. Bennett knocked down their free throws to secure the win.

- Prior to today's game the Bison were averaging 70.3 points per game along with 42.6% shooting from the field. KC held them to 51 points, matching their lowest scoring game of the season which they lost at Washington, 51-64 on Dec. 18. KC also held NDSU without a field goal in the fourth quarter, allowing just four points NDSU's lowest scoring quarter of the season.
- KC went 22-of-61 from the field while the Bison were 16-of-43. This marks the Roos second consecutive win with a lower field goal percentage than their opponents. Kansas City is now 2-12 this season with a lower field goal percentage.
- Em. Bennett (306) and Contreras (303) surpassed 300 points this season in the win. Em. Bennett finished last season with 269 points while Contreras finished with 316.
