Kansas City Looks to Extend Win Streak Against Oral Roberts

The Roos host the Golden Eagles tomorrow at 7 p.m.
THE STARTERS
- The Roos enter Wednesday's game coming off a winning week last week. On Wednesday, KC defeated Denver in overtime for their first regular-season victory over the Pioneers since Jan. 27, 2022. Kansas City continued its momentum on Saturday staging a comeback against NDSU after trailing by 12 points at the end of the third quarter. The Roos defeated NDSU, 56-51 in the first regular-season victory over the Bison since Feb. 19, 2022.Â
- The Kansas City defense was critical in the back-to-back comeback wins last week. The Roos held NDSU to 0-for-6 shooting and forced 11 turnovers in the fourth quarter. The Roos lead the Summit in steals per game averaging 10.1 (65th in the NCAA) and offensive rebounds averaging 14.3 (33rd).Â
- Alayna Contreras brought home the Kwik Star Summit League Women's Basketball Co-Peak Performer of the Week Honor following her 31-point performance against Denver. Contreras played a career-high 44 minutes against Denver and went 12-for-14 from the free throw line. In the win against North Dakota State, Contreras led the team in assists with four and added on a block, two steals and ten points.Â
- Ana Oliveira Dias leads Summit in steals averaging 2.0 per game. Oliveira Dias came up with a huge steal against NDSU —her third of the game —with 26 seconds remaining in play. She took the ball back for a layup, putting the Roos up by one. Oliveira Dias's 40 steals across the first 20 games puts her 85th in the nation in steals.
SCOUTING ORAL ROBERTS
- Oral Roberts was picked to finish second in the Summit with one vote to finish first in the preseason poll.
- The Golden Eagles, enter the match on a two-game winning streak. Oral Roberts took back-to-back wins last week over St. Thomas, 71-68, and Denver, 79-72. ORU will look for its third road win of conference play after defeating North Dakota 98-91 in double overtime and Denver.Â
- Oral Roberts leads the all-time series, holding a 35-21 record over the Roos. Kansas City has had better luck at home, with a 12-12 record against the Golden Eagles.Â
- Makyra Tramble leads the Summit in assists to turnover ratio with 1.77. Tramble averages 3.3 assists per game and has committed two or fewer turnovers in the past eight games.Â
- The Oral Roberts bench has been key, averaging a league-leading 27.1 points per game. The Golden Eagles also lead the Summit in rebounds per game with 40.0.Â
