The Roos to run in Ashland on Friday for their third meet of the season
Kansas City Cross Country continues their 2024 distance campaign in Ashland, Neb. this weekend where the Roos will run in familiar territory at the Platte River Rumble. This will be the second year in a row the Roos have taken part in this event. In 2023, Kansas City finished in seventh place in both the men's and women's races at the Platte River Rumble.Â
In their previous two contests this fall, Kansas City ran at the Bob Timmons Classic in Lawrence, Kan. in late August and the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Mo. a few weeks ago in late September. The Roos finished in fourth place at the Bob Timmons Classic the men's 6k and women's 5k races. In Columbia, Kansas City came in 38th for the women's 6k and 36th for the men's 8k.Â
Roos To Watch:Â
- Kaleb Glaizer - The freshman has starred for the Roos in both meets this season, earning a team best time of 25:33.6 in the Gans Creek Classic men's 8k race. Glaizer registered a time of 19:29.6, good for second best on the team and a 15th place finish at the Bob Timmons Classic to open the season. Glaizer will look to further a fantastic freshman season with another stellar performance in Ashland on Friday. Â
- Sam Cleary - Cleary has performed admirably for the Roos this season. Most notably, the junior recorded a strong outing in Columbia, completing the Gans Creek Classic men's 8k with a time of 26:18.2, third best on the team. Cleary ran a 21:28.37 at the Bob Timmons Classic 6k race earlier this season.Â
- Maggie Boley - Boley has run consistently well for the Roos in two meets this season, totaling a team best time of 20:16.40 and finishing 25th place in the 5k race in Lawrence. The Blue Springs, Mo. native carried on from that great performance with a 23:21.3 time in the women's 6k race in Columbia.Â
- Harper Barlow - The sophomore is coming off her best performance of the season at the Gans Creek Classic, running a team best time of 22:52.9 in the women's 6k race. Barlow earned a time of 20:37.79 in the prior meet, the fourth best time on the team for that race.Â
