SET-BY-SET
- Set One / 17-25 | Kansas City notched the first point of the set off a kill from outside hitter Kaia Dunford, the Waimanalo, Hawaii native's first of her team high 15 kills. Despite some early set success, multiple Roos attack errors put Bradley in the driver's seat. A kill from Bradley's Iva Popovic put the Braves up by an eight point margin 14-6, their largest of the opening set. KC was unable to overcome multiple Braves' service aces and 12 total Bradley kills in the first set.Â
- Set Two / 20-25 | The Roos took significant strides in the second set, going back and forth with the Braves. Kansas City was more aggressive throughout the course of the set, recording 48 total attacks, 19 more than their first set total of 29. Although the Roos trailed for the majority of the set, they set in stone a key moment thanks to a Syndey Henry assist to a Ledisi Kpea kill which gave KC a 20-19 lead late in the set. Bradley countered with six straight points to close out the set.Â
- Set Three / 25-18 | After a pair of close fought sets, the Roos finally broke through with their finest set of the tournament. Kansas City started on the right foot, breaking out to an early 6-3 lead thanks to three kills to start the set from freshman Ryanne Wattree. The Roos kept a steady few point lead over Bradley throughout the set and closed it with excellent kills from Kimora Whetstone and Nyle Mathis off stellar Roos rally's. Kansas City finished the third set with a team high 18 kills off 44 total attacks for a .318 hitting percentage.Â
- Set Four / 21-25 | Despite the momentum from the Roos third set victory, Kansas City fell in the final set to Bradley. Five service errors and three attack errors doomed the Roos hopes of mounting a comeback. Bradley finished the set on a 5-2 point run to close out the contest.Â
