Kansas City Set to Host Emporia State in Home Opener

The Roos then travel to Lindenwood on Sunday for their third away game of the season
Kansas City Notes
- The Roos host Emporia State for their home opener with a strong opening week under their belt. KC picked up two draws on the road along with the Summit League offensive and defensive Peak Performers of the week. Kansas City drew 0-0 against No. 12 Saint Louis to open their season and then tied 1-1 with Marquette on Sunday.Â
- Maddie Sibbing was critical in Kansas City's draw with Saint Louis. She notched five saves in her collegiate debut, earning a clean sheet.Â
- Kansas City is 2-2 in home openers during the Head Coach Jess Smith Era. KC brought home wins against South Dakota in 2020 and Lindenwood in 2023.Â
- Ashley Koch led the Roos on offense last week, picking up Kansas City's first goal of the season. Koch found the back of the net in the 41st minute, assisted by Madison Page and Emery Ruliffson. Koch's goal marks the second of her career and first as a Roo.Â
Emporia State Notes
- Emporia State ended their season last year in the NCAA II Central Region Championship. The Hornets documented wins over Fort Hays State University and Bemidji State University. They faced Washburn in the Championship but fell 2-1.
- Thursday will be Emporia State's first game of the season and be recorded as an exhibition for their program. The Hornets officially open their season on Sep. 6 at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Â
Lindenwood Notes
- Lindenwood opened the season with a 1-1 record, and is looking to pick up its first home win. The Lions defeated Belmont, 3-1, to open their season and fell to Omaha, 2-0. Lindenwood faces IU Indy at home on Thursday before hosting the Roos Saturday.Â
- Freshman forward Mackenzie Compton leads the Lions in points. She picked up a goal and an assist in the win over Belmont bringing her to five points on the season.
