
Kansas City Shares Points Against South Dakota

VERMILLION, S.D. – The Kansas City Women's Soccer team earned a point on the road Thursday night, battling South Dakota to a 2-2 draw after taking a two-goal lead into halftime.
Kansas City (2-7-3, 1-1-2 SL) picked up its second draw of Summit League play, scoring twice in the opening half before the Coyotes rallied to equalize late in the match.
The Roos struck first in the 31st minute when Brooklyn Lupinacci won possession from a South Dakota defender and finished the opportunity to score her first collegiate goal, giving Kansas City a 1-0 advantage.
Ten minutes later, the Roos doubled their lead. Madelyn Muhr delivered a corner kick into the box, where Abigail Chaddock headed it home for her first collegiate goal to put Kansas City ahead 2-0.
Despite being outshot 15-6 and trailing 4-1 in corner kicks in the first half, Kansas City carried its two-goal advantage into the break.
South Dakota cut the deficit to one just three minutes into the second half, capitalizing on a rebound to make it 2-1. The Coyotes continued to apply pressure throughout the second half, recording 14 shots after the break.
The Roos held their lead until the 89th minute, when South Dakota found the equalizer to pull even at 2-2.
Neither team found a winner in the closing moments as the match ended in a draw.

Kansas City remains in South Dakota for a Sunday matchup against South Dakota State on Oct. 11. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
