Kansas City Softball Faces Missouri State in Final Home Matchup

Kansas City Notes
- The Roos face Missouri State for a midweek matchup on Tuesday and then have a bye weekend of Summit League play. The Roos resume league play on Saturday, April 20, in Omaha.
- Briona Woods has made a statement at the plate the past two weekends. She has earned five hits in the last six games including a solo home run against South Dakota State. Woods's home run against the Jackrabbits was the first Kansas City home run against South Dakota State since May 13, 2021.Â
- Camryn Stickel has been Kansas City's go-to pitcher this year, with 20 starts and 30 appearances. She played in all three games last weekend, making starts in game one and another in game three. She holds the lowest ERA on the team with a 2.91, has thrown 137 innings and notched 88 strikeouts this year. Stickel had earned more than three times more strikeouts than any other pitcher on Kansas City's team.Â
- Throughout the season, Lexy Smith has been a key offensive player for the Roos. She has the highest batting average on the team with a .400 and ranks second in the Summit League. This past weekend, she made an impact on defense, notching a perfect fielding percentage with four putouts and five assists.Â
- Both the Roos and the Bears faced South Dakota earlier in the season. The Bears fell to the Coyotes 10-5 and 3-2 on Mar. 9 and Mar. 10 while the Roos notched their first series win over USD going 2-1 on Mar. 29, and Mar. 30
Missouri State Notes
- Missouri State entered the matchup following a 1-2 series loss against UNI last weekend. The Bears picked up an 11-5 victory in the second game of the series.Â
- The Bears have two players hitting over .300. Kayla Ulrich leads the Bears at the plate hitting .364 on the season, she has batted in 12 runs and earned four home runs this year.Â
- Gracie Johnston leads Missouri State in the circle throwing 82 innings so far this season. She has notched 38 strikeouts and 4.61 ERA.Â
- The last meeting between the Bears and the Roos in Kansas City was on April 23, 2019. The Roos fell to the Bears 4-1 in that game.Â
