Roos Take Winning Streak to Tulsa for Regular Season Finale
3/1/2024 5:06:00 PM | Men's Basketball
Kansas City and Oral Roberts will tip off on Sunday at 2 p.m.
- Kansas City Men's Basketball looks to close regular season play strong against Oral Roberts on Sunday, carrying a five-game winning streak into the contest. The five-game streak is tied for the longest since 2004-05, and KC's three-straight conference road wins are the team's most since that same season.Â
- Should the Roos take down the Golden Eagles, a six-game winning streak to end the regular season would be the longest in program history. Kansas City would have to break a recent trend in order to do so, as the Roos have lost their regular season finale for three-straight years.
- Jamar Brown went for a 19-point, 11-rebound double-double in the Roos' win against Denver, notching his seventh double-double of the season. That mark is the fourth-most in the Summit this season, is top-100 in the nation and is the most by a Kansas City player since Carlton Aaron went for a program-record 11 double-doubles in the 2004-05 season. It is the fifth-most single-season double-doubles in program history, trailing only Aaron, Darecko Rawlins (8, 1995-95; 10, 1994-95) and Anthony Davis (no, not that one) (8, 1990-91).
- Kansas City caught fire from the charity stripe against the Pioneers, shooting 23-of-25, good for a season-best 92% clip. The Roos' mark of 23 makes was tied for the second-most in a single game this season. According to Sports Reference, only 38 teams have made 23-plus free throws on 92% or better shooting this season, and it was only the second time that the Roos have reached those marks in a game since 2010-11 (vs. Grand Canyon, Feb. 14, 2019).
- Allen David Mukeba Jr. had an efficient game against the Pioneers, shooting 7-of-8 from the field for 15 points. It is his second-career 7-of-8 game, the first coming against Omaha on Jan. 26, 2023.
Oral Roberts Notes
- ORU enters Sunday's game with an 11-17 record and a 5-10 mark in conference play. The Golden Eagles were 5-4 in Summit competition until their current six-game losing streak.
- Kansas City took down ORU in the teams' first meeting of the year, 77-60 on Dec. 29. It was KC's first win at home against the Golden Eagles in 11 attempts.
- The Golden Eagles own a 29-12 advantage in the all-time series, including a 15-5 edge in games played at Tulsa.
- KC's last win in Tulsa came on Jan. 24, 2021.
- ORU leads the Summit in threes per game, making an average of 9.1.
- Issac McBride is one of the best scorers in the league, averaging 20.1 points per game. That mark is the second-best in the Summit and 30th in the nation.
