Starting Five
- Kansas City Men's Basketball looks to bounce back on the road on Thursday, taking on North Dakota State, a team that defeated KC in double overtime on Jan. 11. Since the 2011-12 season, the Roos are 3-0 when playing a team for a second time after losing to them in an overtime game earlier in the same season. Most recently, Kansas City defeated Denver, 70-60, on Jan. 28 of last season after dropping a triple overtime decision to the Pioneers on Dec. 29.
- The Roos are looking for their second road win of Summit League play, and their third road win of the season. On the year, Kansas City is 8-3 at home and 2-8 on the road. KC's Summit League road win came at Omaha on Jan. 20, a 74-72 victory.
- Kansas City was limited to just nine assists in the most recent loss to St. Thomas, more than four assists below the team's season average. Prior to falling to UST, the Roos had reached double-digit assists in seven-straight games.
- Tyler Andrews has stepped up in the past two games, reaching double-digits in both and averaging 18.0 points. Entering last week, Andrews had averaged just 3.8 points per game and had not surpassed the 10-point plateau on the season.
- Last season, Kansas City knocked down 10-plus threes in just four games, averaging just 5.9 three point makes per game. This year, that number has jumped to eight games with double-digit three-point makes and an average of 8.4 triples made per game. That mark ranks third in the Summit and 91st in the nation.
North Dakota State Notes
- North Dakota State currently sits at 3-5 in Summit League play, putting them in eighth place in the conference.
- The Bison have won the last two games against KC, but the Roos have won the last two games played in Fargo, including a 75-73 win on Jan. 21 of last year.
- NDSU leads the Summit in field goal percentage, knocking down 47.5% of its shots on the year.
- Boden Skunberg leads the Bison's scoring efforts, averaging 14.9 points per game on 41.6% shooting.
