Roos Host Senior Day Matchup Against Omaha
2/23/2024 3:50:00 PM | Men's Basketball
Kansas City and Omaha will tip off tomorrow at 7 p.m.
- Kansas City Men's Basketball takes a season-long three-game winning streak into the final home game of the year against Omaha on Saturday. A win over the Mavericks would be the longest of Coach Marvin Menzies' tenure and would tie the Roos' longest winning streak since a five-game tear in 2020-21.
- Khristion Courseault will be the lone Roo honored during Senior Night proceedings, and he is coming off of a career game in which he logged his first double-double, a 22-point, 10-assist showing against South Dakota. It marked the first points/assists double-double by a Roo since 2015 and made him the first Kansas City player in program history to log multiple 10-plus assist games in a single season.
- The Roos have not allowed opponents to put together a 10-point run in any of the last four games and in 10 of the last 12 games. This comes after KC conceded at least one 10-point run in 10 of the first 16 games this season. When holding teams without a 10-point run in conference play, Kansas City has a 7-3 record.
- Jamar Brown went for a game-high 27 points in the win over South Dakota, his best mark of the season against a Division One opponent. Brown has gone for 20-plus points in five games this season, and the Roos are 4-1 when he reaches that mark. He averages a team-leading 15.0 points per game, the eighth-best mark in the Summit League.
- Kansas City knocked down 12 three-pointers in the win over South Dakota, the 11th time this year that the Roos have made double-digit threes in a game. That is the most games with 10-plus triples by a KC team since 2017-18.
Omaha Notes
- Omaha enters Saturday's contest a half-game behind the Roos in the conference standings at 7-7.Â
- The Mavericks are coming off a 71-70 win over Oral Roberts on Thursday night.
- The Roos hold a 8-7 advantage in the all-time series, and are 6-2 against Omaha at home.
- When these teams met on Jan. 20, the Roos escaped with a 74-72 win, led by 15 points from Cameron Faas.
- The Mavs' Frankie Fidler ranks third in the Summit, averaging 19.4 points per game.
