Starting Five
- Kansas City Men's Basketball looks to extend its winning streak after back-to-back wins over league-leading teams. The Roos will take on South Dakota, in search of their first season sweep over a conference opponent this year. Kansas City has logged regular season sweeps over at least one conference opponent every year since 2017-18, when the Roos were members of the Western Athletic Conference.Â
- Kansas City snapped a streak in its recent win over South Dakota State on Feb. 15, the Roos' first win over the Jackrabbits in 11 tries. Before last week, the Roos' last win over SDSU came on Nov. 28, 2015. South Dakota State was the final team that the Roos had not beaten since returning to the Summit League in 2020-21.
- The Roos found new ways to win against the Jackrabbits, earning the victory despite low-percentage field goal shooting. KC was out-shot by South Dakota State, 39.3% against 38.3%, making the Roos 2-13 on the year when shooting at a lower percentage than their opponent. In addition, KC is now 2-6 on the season when shooting below 40% from the field. The Roos were aided by 18-of-21 (85.7%) shooting from the free-throw line, 21.7% better than the Jackrabbits.
- Jamar Brown went for 16 points and 10 rebounds against SDSU, his sixth double-double of the year and his first since logging four in the span of six games from Dec. 16-Jan. 6. Brown ranks fourth in the Summit League and 100th in the NCAA in double-doubles.
- Khristion Courseault scored a team-high 17 points off the bench against SDSU. The Roos lead the Summit, averaging 25.19 bench points per game.
South Dakota Notes
- South Dakota enters Thursday's game at the bottom of the Summit League with a 3-9 record in conference play.
- The Coyotes have lost two-straight following a Feb. 8 win over Denver.
- Kansas City took it to USD on Jan. 27, defeating the Yotes, 81-57, behind 21 points from Jayson Petty.
- South Dakota knocks down the triple at a 37.2% clip, ranking second in the league and 30th in the nation.
- Kaleb Stewart leads the Coyotes, scoring an average of 15.8 points per game.
