The Roos hit the road for week two of conference play
Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City will look to snap its two-game losing skid this week. The Roos fell to Dever 3-1 on Thursday and North Dakota State 1-0 on Sunday. Kansas City only allowed four goals across the first five weeks of the season, so last week brings them to eight goals allowed on the season. The Blue and Gold continue to lead the Summit in goals against average at .678.
- Maddie Sibbing and Riley Moore have been splitting time in goal with Sibbing making both starts last week. The two have made six starts each. Sibbing has 31 saves on the season and Moore has earned a conference-leading four shutouts.
- Last season the Roos notched results against South Dakota State and South Dakota in Kansas City. A result against the Jackrabbits on Thursday would be Kansas City's first over SDSU in Brookings.
- Kayda Kamolz notched her first goal of the season in the 52nd minute to equalize the match against Denver. Kamolz's goal makes her the tenth Roo to find the back of the net this season. She currently ranks second in the conference and 35th in the nation for assists with five.
- Both South Dakota State and South Dakota enter the match well rested, having had a bye during week one of conference play. SDSU opened conference play on Sunday facing Omaha, while South Dakota kicked things off with a 0-0 draw against St. Thomas on Thursday and a bye on Sunday.
South Dakota State Notes
- The Jackrabbits piled on the goals against Omaha winning 4-1 in the highest-scoring game of league play so far. Laney Murdzek scored back-to-back goals for SDSU in the 48th and 90th minute. L. Murdzek now has three goals on the season.
- South Dakota State enters the match on a four-game winning streak, picking up its first conference win over Omaha last week. The Jackrabbits are 2-1-1 at home and broke their 11-game home win streak with a loss against Kansas, 2-1, on Aug. 15.
- Both the Roos and the Jackrabbits faced Northern Colorado earlier this season, and the pair walked away with wins. South Dakota State defeated the Bears 2-0 in Greeley, Colo. on Aug. 19 while Kansas City beat UNC 4-1 on Sep. 22 in KC.
South Dakota Notes
- South Dakota is averaging 1.2 goals per game while allowing opponents 1.7 goals per game. South Dakota fired off eight shots in the draw aginst UST, four of which were on frame.
- Graduate student Ashby Johnston leads the Coyotes in nearly every offensive category. She is first in goals with three and first in points seven. She leads the team in shots with 18 and shots on goal with eight.
- The Coyotes were pulled to finish fifth in the Summit League, one spot above Kansas City. South Dakota has a chance to pick up its first win and second result of conference play against Omaha on Thursday.
