Kansas City Opens Two Game Home Stretch with Matchup Against Oral Roberts
9/30/2023 5:18:00 PM | Women's Soccer
The Roos host Oral Roberts and St. Thomas in their first home games of conference play
Kansas City Notes
- The Roos opened Summit League play with a 1-1 draw against North Dakota State and a scoreless draw against North Dakota. The two draws to start Summit League play mark six consecutive draws for the Roos and seven draws so far this season. The current six-consecutive drawing streak earned by the Roos is a program record.
 - The last time the Roos took home a win against the Golden Eagles was Sept. 22, 2019, in their 2-0 victory. Kansas City will look to break Oral Robert's four-game winning streak in the matchup and secure Kansas City's first win of the season since the Aug. 17 season-opener victory against Lindenwood.
 - Gigi Mir was the first freshman to find the back of the net for the Roos, earning her first career goal in the 3-3 draw against Tulsa. Mir then scored in Kansas City's next game against North Dakota State, notching the Roos' lone goal.
 - In goal, junior Riley Moore has been a staple for the Roos. Moore earned her second-career shutout in the matchup against North Dakota and has put up three career-high nine save appearances this season against Iowa, Colorado State and Tulsa. She also leads the Summit League in saves per game averaging 4.82 saves across the 11 games this season.
 - Sophomore midfielder, Brianna Castleberry has been an offensive weapon for the Roos. She leads the Roos in shots with 24 and shots on goal with three. In league play, Castleberry is second for shots on goal— with five across two games— and third in shots with seven.

Oral Roberts Notes
- The Golden Eagles come into the matchup hot, after picking up their first win of conference play on Thursday. Oral Roberts outshot Omaha, winning 2-1.
 - Both the Roos and the Golden Eagles faced Tulsa before starting Summit League play. Oral Roberts brought home a 2-1 win over the Golden Hurricane on Aug. 27. Kansas City faced Tulsa in their final matchup before conference drawing 3-3 on Sept. 17. When the Roos and Golden Hurricane met, Kansas City put up its highest scoring performance of the season so far.
 - This will be the first time Oral Roberts and Kansas City will face one another with Austin Risenhoover and Jess Smith at their helm. This is Risenhoover's first season with the Golden Eagles and Smith's fourth season with the Roos.
 - Graduate student, Gabrielle Abbey leads the Golden Eagles in goals with four. Abbey earned the brace in the Oral Roberts victory over Omaha.
