KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Despite putting runners on base, Kansas City Softball (5-30, 0-6 Summit) could not bring any runs across, falling to South Dakota (16-15, 5-0 Summit), 7-0. The Roos tallied eight hits and put 12 runners on base, both season-highs in a game which the team was shut out.

KEY MOMENTS

Bottom 2 / 0-0 | Kansas City loaded the bases in each of the first two innings, but was unable to bring anyone across to score. In the bottom of the second, Katie Noble went three-up, three-down, getting a pair of plays from Lexy Smith at third base and her first strikeout of the day.
Top 4 / 0-2 | Looking to respond to South Dakota's two runs in the third, Katherine Karnatz led the fourth off with a single to left. Kansas City could not advance her and the Coyotes added two more in the bottom of the inning.
Top 7 / 0-7 | Ally Vonfeldt send a blast to left-center for her second hit of the day, a double to the fence. Noble drew a walk in the next at-bat, but back-to-back groundouts ended the game.

STATS TO NOTE

Sydney Nichols continued her hot streak at the plate, going 2-of-4 on the day. She tallied five total hits on the three-game series.
Vonfeldt's two hits brought her team-high batting average up to .327, which would be a career-best by over 50 points.
The Roos left 11 runners on base throughout the game, the team's second game in as many days with 10-plus stranded runners.
