vs. #6 OMAHA (WATCH | STATS | TICKETS)
Starting Five
- Riding two wins to start the Summit League Championships, Kansas City moves into the semis for the second year in a row, taking on Omaha. Holding a 2-6 record in the conference tournament semifinals all-time, KC is seeking its first conference finals appearance since the 2011-12 season.
- The Roos have found new ways to win in March, as the wins over Denver and North Dakota State marked the first two times this season that KC won a game while attempting 20-plus three-pointers (20 vs. DU, 20 vs. NDSU) and while being out-rebounded (-1 vs. DU, -5 vs. NDSU).
- In Kansas City's opening round win over Denver, the Roos' performance put them across the program's conference tournament record book. Manna Mensah's 30-point game was the third-most all-time. KC's 25-point fourth quarter was the fifth highest-scoring quarter in program history. Shooting 40% from three was tied for the sixth-best three-point percentage in program history, and the 42 rebounds was tied for seventh-best.
- E'Lease Stafford's three-point success has continued to translate into the Roos' overall success. She has hit three triples in both postseason games, and KC now has five wins on the season when she goes for three-or-more three-pointers.
- Sanaa' St. Andre came up big in against DU, banking home the game-winning three-pointer for KC's first postseason buzzer-beater since a Mar. 7, 2010 winner by LeAndrea Thomas over NDSU. St. Andre's play was featured at No. 8 on SportsCenter's Top 10.
Omaha Notes
- Omaha took a win over North Dakota in the quarterfinals of the Championships, moving its record to 14-16 on the season.
- The two teams split the season series, both winning games on the road. Kansas City won the most recent meeting, 64-55 on Jan. 26. Four Roos scored in double-digits with Stafford leading the way at 23.
- Kansas City leads the all-time series, 7-6. The teams have never before met in a neutral venue.
- The Mavericks take advantage at the free throw line, leading the Summit League at a 78.3% clip.
- Elena Pilakouta was named Second Team All-League this season, leading Omaha in points and rebounds. She has averaged 13.0 points and 6.5 boards in two games against KC this year.
