Kansas City Suffers Late Loss Against Tarleton State

A one-run lead was not enough after a challenging sixth inning and set the tone for the rest of the day
EL PASO, Texas– Kansas City (3 - 10) fell to Tarleton State (11-5) in a tight game 6-3 that the Texans opened up in the bottom of the sixth. In their second game of the day, the Roos fell to Creighton (4-8). Ally Vonfeldt put up six hits on the day in just seven at-bats.

The Roos head to Arlington, Texas for the Boerner tournament, next Friday. Over the three-day tournament, the Roos will face Lamar, UT Arlington and Rider.

- Bottom 1 / 0 – 1 | Tarleton State hit a solo home run to be the first team on the board, but the Roos kept the rest of the inning locked down, getting two consecutive outs to head to the top of the second.
- Top 2 / 1 – 1 | Doubles from Vonfeldt and Espy Daniels put Kansas City on the board and tied the game.
- Bottom 2 / 1 – 1 | A nice catch from Daniels and a throw to Kathryn Karnatz at second got Kansas City two quick outs.

- Top 3 / 2 – 1 | A single from Katie Noble advanced Lexy Smith to second and the Roos were able to add a run from a Sydney Nichols double to left field. Tarleton State responded in the bottom of the fourth bringing in one run to tie the game.
- Top 5 / 3 – 2 | With two outs, another set of doubles from Vonfeldt and Nichols added a run for the Roos. Tarleton State fired back in the bottom of the sixth earning four runs.
- Vonfeldt lead the team in hits and matched her career high with three. Each of her three hits were doubles and she batted in one run for the Roos.
- Kansas City had nine hits off 30 at-bats while Tarleton State only had seven hits in its 25 at-bats.
- Audrey Daniels and Noble documented two strikeouts a piece in the circle for the Roos.
- Bottom 1 / 0 – 3 | The Bluejays hit a home run to put three on the board early. Creighton added one to their score in the bottom of the third with a pair of doubles.
- Top 6 / 0 – 6 / Kansas City loaded the bases with singles from Smith, Noble and Vonfeldt which gave them their best scoring chance of the game. A double play prevented the Roos from getting on the scoreboard.
- This was only the second game of the season where Kansas City was held run less by their opponent.
- Vonfeldt documented another career high tying three hits in only three at-bats.
- In the two innings she pitched, Bailey Brumley held the Bluejays to one hit and one run.
