Starting Five
- Kansas City remains at the Swinney Center for a pair of games against South Dakota State and Oral Roberts, marking the team's longest home stand of the season. To this point, the Roos are 6-4 at home and have won four of their last five.
- The Roos have won three-straight games, marking the team's longest win streak of the season so far. KC has now notched a winning streak of at least three games in each of the past four seasons and in nine of the last 10.
- In each of the past three games, all wins, Kansas City has run out a starting five of RayQuawndis Mitchell, Shemarri Allen, Promise and Precious Idiaru and Jeff Ngandu. In those three games, the Roos are outscoring opponents, 69.7-64.7, and are the only starting five without a loss to their record. It is the ninth starting unit that Kansas City has used this season, ranking top-15 in the NCAA for number of different lineups used.
- After going five-straight games without breaking the 20-point plateau, Shemarri Allen has now gone for at least 20 points in each of Kansas City's past three games. Across the three game period, he is averaging 23.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.7 steals per game. Allen has scored 20-plus points eight times this year, with KC notching a 4-4 record in such games.
- After missing four-straight games due to a hip injury, Allen David Mukeba Jr. has returned to the Kansas City lineup and been as efficient as ever. In his two games since returning, he is averaging 12.5 points per game on 78.6% shooting, notching his ninth-and-tenth double-digit scoring performances of the season. He also posted 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 blocks and 1.0 steals per game.
South Dakota St. Notes
- The reigning Summit League champions, SDSU is out to a 6-4 start in conference play this year. Monday's game will be a makeup from the postponement of a game that was originally scheduled for Dec. 21.
- The Jackrabbits have had Kansas City's number in the all-time series, holding a 19-4 advantage and winning the last seven meetings. KC's last win in the series came on Nov. 28, 2015 at Municipal Auditorium.
- South Dakota State swept the season series last year, winning by 32 points in Brookings and then by 11 points in the regular season finale in Kansas City.
- Zeke Mayo is having a sophomore insurgence, averaging 17.0 points per game for the Jackrabbits. He has reached double-digits in each of the past nine games and has gone for 20-plus in the past four.
Oral Roberts Notes
- Oral Roberts makes the trip to Kansas City after taking a wild win in the first meeting between the two teams on Jan. 7. The Golden Eagles stand at 10-0 in conference play and are one of just six teams in teams that are still unbeaten in their league.
- The first meeting between the two teams saw ORU overcome a seven-point halftime deficit to win on a half court buzzer-beater by Max Abmas. RayQuawndis Mitchell led KC in that game with 23 points.
- The Roos are looking to snap a three-game losing streak to the Golden Eagles, with the last win coming on Jan. 24, 2021.
- Averaging 84.5 points per game, ORU has the fifth-ranked scoring offense in the nation.
- Abmas leads the league and ranks third in the nation, averaging 22.0 points per game. He is one of just 23 players nationwide to average over 20 points per contest.
