
Powell Impresses at Jayhawk Classic

Keilan Powell ran a 6.78 60-meter, second best in program history
LAWRENCE, Kan.- Kansas City Track & Field returned to Lawrence, Kan., for the second time this season for the Jayhawk Classic, where the Roos are continued to show great strides, gearing up for The Summit League Conference Championships on Feb 24 & 25 in Vermillion, S.D. Freshman Keilan Powell topped the podium with a first-place finish in the men's 60-meter and now holds the fastest time in the Summit League this year. Powell's time of 6.78 is a personal best, which will go down as the second fastest time in program history. Rounding out the KC's sprinting success, Logan Pratt earned a fourth-place finish in the 60-meter with a time of 6.85. Both Powell & Pratt now hold a top-5 spot in the Summit League.
Jaleesa McWashington bolstered her top-10 spot in the Summit League standings by running an 8.93 in the 60m hurdles, placing eighth at the meet. The Roos' momentum was extended to the field event as Taylor Bailey and Lily Bremer claimed the third and fourth place finish is the women's high jump.Â
