Kansas City Track & Field continues to rewrite the record book
LINCOLN, Neb. - Kansas City Track and Field traveled to Lincoln, Neb., for the annual Huskers Invite, lining up with the best in the Midwest. In the pentathlon, Jaleesa McWashington placed fifth overall with 3,429 points. McWashington collected two personal records: in the high jump at 1.54m (5-00.50) and the 800-meter with a time of 2:31.56. McWashington is now fourth in the Summit League and second in program history for this discipline. Keilan Powell put down an impressive 60-meter dash Friday, as he qualified for Saturday's 60-meter final. Powell finished sixth with a time of 6.86 and continues to be No. 1 in the Summit League over 60-meters.
Ally Ryan returned with a fourth-place finish in the mile among a tough field of competitors and continues to holds the top seed in the women's mile for the Summit League. Junior Kennedy Bauer came away with a fourth-place finish in the women's 5,000 meters and cruised to second in the Summit League with a time of 18:31.46 two weeks before the Championships. Katherine Hanners etched her name into the record books on Saturday, becoming the second-fastest women in program history to run the 3,000-meter, running 9:58.61 iand winning the event. Hanners' performance highlighted the Roos' performance on day two of the Huskers Invitational. Eight athletes hold top 10 spots in the Summit League, with one meet left to perfect their craft before indoor conference championships.
