Women's Basketball Prepares for Final Weekend at Home

The Roos will take on North Dakota tomorrow at 6 p.m. and North Dakota State on Saturday at 2 p.m.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -Â Kansas City Women's Basketball rides a seven-game winning streak into their final weekend at home. They are the only team in program history to notch two seven-plus game winning streaks in a single season.

- With Monday's win over St. Thomas, Jacie Hoyt became the first coach in program history to notch two 20-win seasons. Prior to her arrival, the Roos lone 20-win seasons came in 1991-92 and 2011-12.
- Since Jan. 20, Paige Bradford is averaging 10.3 rebounds per game. Prior to that point, her average was 7.4 per game. The Roos are 8-1 over her dominant stretch.
- On the season, Naomie Alnatas is averaging 7.0 made field goals per game. Currently, the highest per-game average in program history is 6.4, reached by Alysa Klein in 2007-08 and Eilise O'Connor in 2013-14.
- When Kansas City notches a field goal percentage of at least 40% and pulls down 35-plus rebounds in a game, the team holds a 12-0 record.
- With 10 conference wins, Kansas City is just one win away from matching the most in the program's Summit/Mid-Continent membership. The team previously won 11 games in both 2003-04 and 2011-12.
- The Roos currently hold a 1.5-game advantage over North Dakota for the third spot in the Summit League standings. A win on Thursday would put them ahead by 2.5 games with just three contests remaining.
Last Time vs. UND
- The Roos are looking for revenge as they host North Dakota tomorrow. KC dropped a 66-78 decision in North Dakota on Jan. 22 earlier this year.
- Kiara Bradley led the Roos' offense with 17 points, 15 of those coming from long-distance, while also adding five rebounds and an assist.
- In only 25 minutes due to foul trouble, Broolyn McDavid notched 14 points, four rebounds and a steal.
- Paige Bradford had double-digit rebounds with 11 grabs off the glass, adding seven points with an assist, a block and a steal.
- Falling under her season average in scoring, Naomie Alnatas still led the offense with eight assists, four steals, and five rebounds.
- Kansas City out-shot North Dakota from beyond the arc, making nine to their opponents six threes. KC lost the battle in the paint, scoring just 24 points inside to UND's 32.
Series History vs. UND
- The series is knotted at 1-1 against UND. Their first matchup came in KC's return to the Summit League in a 71-67 win on Jan. 2, 2021.
- UND joined The Summit League in 2018, and the Roos returned in 2020, setting up a fresh rivalry. · Kansas City and Coach Jacie Hoyt will look to win their first-ever matchup against North Dakota on their home court.
UND Scouting Report
- Despite being picked ninth in the 2021 Summit pre-season poll, North Dakota enters this week 9-6 in conference play and fourth in the league standings, just a game behind Kansas City.
- The Fighting Hawks lost to Western Illinois 73-85 in their most recent game, dropping them a game behind third place.
- UND is second-to-last in three-pointers per game, averaging only 4.5 from long range.
- Kansas City will want to limit sending North Dakota to the free-throw line. UND has a 78.5% team free throw percentage, a league-best and tenth best in the NCAA, led by Kacie Borowicz at 96.69%, atop the league and second best in the NCAA.
- The Fighting Hawks are led by Borowics, who averages 18.9 points and 4.5 assists per game, second-best in the Summit to Alnatas' 19.3 points and 5.2 assists per game.
- Olivia Lane leads UND on the boards with 8.9 per game, ranking second on the Summit charts.

Last Time vs. NDSU
- The Roos won the first meeting of the series this season, defeating the Bison 67-62 on their home court. · KC entered the fourth quarter down by 10, but Brooklyn McDavid and Naomie Alnatas combined for 19 points to complete the come-from-behind victory.
- Three Roos finished in double digits, led by Alnatas with 19 points, five rebounds and four assists. Paige Bradford followed with a near double-double, dropping 14 points and nine rebounds. McDavid rounded it out with 12 points and five rebounds.
- Kiara Bradley went 3-for-4 from the three-point line, totaling nine points, five rebounds and three assists. It was a neck-and-neck race at the three-point line with a combined 17 makes from beyond the arc.
- Kansas City's defense shut down North Dakota State's leading scorer, Heaven Hamling, limiting her to just two points.
- The Roos won the battle in points off of turnovers and second chance points, out-scoring the Bison 30-to-17 on the offensive glass and in transition.
Series History vs. NDSU
- Kansas City holds the 9-8 advantage in all-time meetings with North Dakota State.
- KC trends to do better with home court advantage, carrying a home record of 5-3 and away record of 3-5 against NDSU.
- All sixteen games against the Bison have come in the last 15 years, with the first matchup occurring in Fargo on January 19, 2008.
- Kansas City trends towards more low-scoring games when facing NDSU, averaging 65.7 points per game.
- The largest margin of victory for the Roos came in a 76-58 win over the Bison in 2012.
NDSU Scouting Report
- The Bison were picked third in the Summit pre-season poll but enter this week at 6-9 in conference play and sixth in the Summit rankings.
- NDSU defeated St. Thomas 69-60 in their most recent win this past Saturday.
- Wyoming was the only common non-conference opponent for the Roos and the Bison. Kansas City took the victory 53-44, while NDSU dropped the game 45-71.
- NDSU ranks last in the league in assist-to-turnover ratio at .65, averaging only 10.2 assists and 15.6 turnovers per game.
- Heaven Hemling leads North Dakota State in scoring with 13.3 points per game, eleventh best in the conference. She also shoots a league-best 38.9% from behind the arc, averaging 2.2 threes per game.
- Ryan Cobbins is NDSU's second leading scorer, coming off of a 15-point performance against St. Thomas.
