Starting Five
- Kansas City looks to snap its second three-game losing streak of the year as it takes on a pair of first-time opponents. The Roos host first-year Division One squad Lindenwood before traveling to Norman, Okla. for a meeting with the Sooners.
- Expected to be out for over a month with a wrist injury, Kansas City looks to find some offensive cohesion without Anderson Kopp in the lineup. In four games played, Kopp averaged 13.0 ppg and shot 44% from three-point range, while the team went 3-1 and averaged 78.0 ppg. In six games without him on the court, KC is 0-6 and averages 57.5 points per contest.
- Allen David Mukeba Jr.'s surge has continued in recent games, averaging 14.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.0 steals across the past two games against SIUE and Idaho State. He currently ranks top-ten in the Summit in blocks, rebounds and steals per game.
- From inside of 22 feet, the Roos are excellent at putting the ball in the hoop. On two-point tries, KC has converted on 173-of-367 attempts, which is good for a 47.1% shooting clip. Kansas City has had trouble shooting the rock from beyond the three-point line however, as their 22.9% three-point clip ranks 344th in the nation.
- A positive trend over recent weeks has been the Roos' decrease in turnover rate. In the first five games of the year, KC averaged 20.4 turnovers per game, including three games of 20-plus. In the past five contests, the Roos have brought that average down to 11.6 per game, including their first single-digit turnover game, committing just eight against Idaho State.
Lindenwood Notes
- In their first year of Division One competition, Lindenwood enters Saturday's game with a 4-5 record, including a 103-56 win against East-West University on Wednesday.
- The Roos and Lions have played two common opponents, Idaho State and Illinois. Lindenwood defeated Idaho State in overtime, while KC lost by 10. Both teams fell to Illinois - Kansas City by 38 and Lindenwood by 33.
- Lindenwood has four players averaging double-digit scoring, led by Chris Childs with 15.4. The former Bryant Bulldog and NJCAA All-American also adds 5.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game and registered a triple-double against East-West.
- While selective with their shots - attempting only 179 threes compared to 248 by their opponents - the Lions knock down the three ball at a 34.6% clip, which ranks 159th in Division One.
Oklahoma Notes
- The Sooners are off to a hot start in their second year under Porter Moser, posting a 6-1 record in their first seven games. After dropping a close season-opener to Sam Houston, OU has rattled off six-straight. The Sooners will have a test before Tuesday's game, taking on Villanova in the Big 12-Big East Battle on Saturday.
- This will be the first time that the Roos and Sooners match up in program history. Against the current Big 12, Kansas City has a 6-46 record, with the most recent win coming against Kansas State on Dec. 30, 2003.
- The Sooners rank first in the Big 12 in three-point defense, allowing opponents to hit just 25.6% of triple attempts. However, they rank eighth in overall field goal defense, allowing a 40.2% shooting percentage.
- Grant Sherfield leads OU with 15.6 points per game and connects on 91.3% of his free throw attempts. He is also the team's leading assist man, averaging 5.0 per contest.
