KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Volleyball could not overcome a strong hitting night by Denver this evening, falling 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-12). The Pioneers hit at a 0.432 clip on the night, allowing only two KC blocks.

KEY MOMENTS

S1 / 8-8 | Rachel Sturdevant sent her second kill of the night across to knot things up in the early going.
S1 / 15-18 | The Roos strung together three-straight points, including kills by Kimora Whetstone and Georgia Sturdevant, in response to a 8-2 run by Denver.
S1 / 20-24 | Kansas City fought off a set point by the Pioneers thanks to a kill from Raina Smith, but DU took the first set on the next point.
S2 / 7-7 | An ace by Sydney Henry gave the Roos their second point in-a-row and tied the set up.
S2 / 15-14 | Odyssey Warren received serve and Peyton Van Nest rewarded her with the assist that sent KC into the media break with a lead. The Pioneers would come out of the break and win six-straight points to take control of the set.

S2 / 20-23 | Smith came through in the late game with a kill once again, but Denver took the second set.
S3 / 4-12 | The Roos were able to hold serve for the first time in the third set on a kill by Smith.
S3 / 12-24 | Warren came through with a kill on the Pios' first match point opportunity, but Denver would complete the sweep on the next point.

STATS TO NOTE

Denver's 0.432 hitting percentage was the best by a KC opponent this season by over four percent, and the best by an opponent since Missouri hit at a 0.526 clip in 2019.
Warren led the Roos with 11 kills on 29 attacks.
Sturdevant placed seven kills on 10 swings with just one error for a 0.600 hitting percentage.
Henry's ace in the second set was the Roos' lone service ace of the night.
