The Roos host the Pioneers tomorrow at 7 p.m. and Omaha on Saturday at 1 p.m.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Volleyball looks to return to the win column after a pair of sweeps on the road in North Dakota, taking on Denver and Omaha.
Kansas City Notes
- The Roos have not been swept three times in-a-row since a stretch from Oct. 19-26 in the 2017 season.
- Of Kansas City's 16 players, just eight - or 50% - had Division One playing experience entering this season. The Roos had just seven players with DI experience in the 2017 season.
- The Roos currently hold sole possession of eighth place in the Summit League standings. If the season ended today, it would be the lowest conference finish for KC since finishing eighth in 2011.
- The Roos average 15.25 digs per set, which ranks fourth in the Summit League and 80th in the nation. Kennedy Schritenthal paces the team by averaging 4.14 digs per set, which ranks third in the league.
- Kansas City's 0.284 hitting percentage in the loss to North Dakota State was the 17th-highest by a Summit League team in a three-set match this season.
- Carly Gillen owns two of the top-six three-set hitting percentages in the league this year, swinging at a 0.600 clip against Tulane and a 0.571 rate against Northern Illinois.
- Odyssey Warren leads KC's points per set rate by over one point, averaging 3.75. Raina Smith is second at 2.42.
Denver Notes
- Kansas City will take on the Pioneers for the sixth time in program history after picking up the first-ever win in their last meeting on Nov. 18, 2021.
- Led by 15 kills from Melanie Brecka and a 0.299 hitting percentage on the match, the Roos took down the Pioneers, 3-1.
- Prior to that meeting, Denver had won all four meetings between the two teams, including a pair in 2020 that allowed the Pioneers to steal the Regular Season Summit League title from KC.
- The Pios enter Thursday's match having dropped a three-set decision to Omaha on Tuesday. It was just the second time Denver has been swept this year, with the first coming against No. 1 Texas.
Omaha Notes
- The last time the Roos and Mavericks faced off was in last year's regular season finale, with the Roos winning a 3-1 battle.
- Kansas City has lost to Omaha at home just once all-time, a five-set decision on Oct. 19, 2011.
- The Mavericks are currently on a three-match winning streak, sweeping WIU, UST and Denver. They will take on Oral Roberts before Saturday's matchup.
- Sami Clarkson leads the league and ranks 14th in the nation, averaging 10.84 assists per set.
