The Roos battled to keep things close but could not overcome Omaha's attack

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City Volleyball fell to Omaha this afternoon in three tightly contested sets (25-19, 25-23, 25-22). Raina Smith and Odyssey Warren led the way with eight kills each.

KEY MOMENTS

S1 / 3-3 | Sydney Henry got her first assist of the afternoon as Rachel Sturdevant sent over the kill.
S1 / 12-10 | Peyton Van Nest sent a set to Warren for her second kill of the match.
S1 / 15-21 | Smith got a kill to cut the deficit to six, but the Mavericks would hold on to win the first set.
S2 / 4-4 | Georgia Mullins slammed home the kill to knot things up early in the second set.
S2 / 10-15 | Kennedy Schritenthal assisted Smith to put an end to an 8-0 Maverick run.
S2 / 16-19 | Henry set up Warren for the kill to bring the Roos within striking distance.

S3 / | 19-22 | Henry gave Smith another great look and she finished to keep things tight.
S3 / 22-23 | Warren and Kimora Whetstone teamed up for a block that would draw the Roos within one, but the Mavericks responded by winning the next two points to take the set and match.

STATS TO NOTE

The Roos and Mavericks both finished with a 0.198 hitting percentage, but Omaha took 20 more attacks and ended with 18 more kills.
Van Nest led the Roos' setting efforts, finishing with 12 assists.
The Roos had 11.5 blocks to Omaha's six, with Whetstone leading the way with four.
