Kansas City's defense held the Pioneers to just one goal, but the offense never found its stride
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Denver on Thursday, Kansas City played a much tighter game and kept the Pioneers in check, but could not come away with the victory in a 1-0 decision.
"They fought to the end. That's what we ask of them," head coach Ryan Pore said. "We challenged them after Thursday night's game and we got a response from them. We'll take that as a positive."
Goalkeeper Cooper Clark bounced back from that four-goal performance and gave the Roos a chance to pull out a victory. He maintains his spot in third place in the Summit League for saves.
Kansas City started out strong on both sides of the ball early on with several big saves from Clark keeping the score even. Kevin Komodi and Ryan Khedoo - coming off the bench tonight - both finished with two shots, making up four of the Roos' five shots.
Denver scored the only goal of the contest at the 31 minute mark.
Kansas City will be back in action on Thursday, taking on Omaha at 5 p.m. in Kansas City. The Roos defeated the Mavericks 3-1 when the teams first met on Feb. 22.
