BROOKINGS, S.D. - For the second night in a row, efficient shooting by South Dakota State (15-6, 9-3) downed Kansas City (11-12, 7-7) as the Roos fell to the Jackrabbits, 89-77.
Josiah Allick and Marvin Nesbitt Jr. led the Roos from the floor, scoring 17 and 16 points, respectively. The pair combined for 13-of-17 field goal shooting, using the paint to score, where Kansas City struggled last night. However, neither of the two spent more than 24 minutes on the court and they both fouled out of the game.
Kansas City shot the ball at a high rate, connecting on 54.9% of its shots, but could not get the defensive stops that it needed. The Jackrabbits shot over 70% from the field, scoring 36 points in the paint to the Roos' 30.
The Roos were on their mark from three-point range, connecting on 10-of-21 shots. Nesbitt Jr. and Kamgain each knocked down a pair of triples to lead the team, with Kamgain finishing with 10 points.
A bright spot for the Roos came in the form of freshman Devon House. With Nesbitt Jr., Allick and Caden Boser in foul trouble, Head Coach Billy Donlon was forced to reach down the bench for size. House played nearly eight minutes in the game, connecting on 3-of-4 field goal attempts, including a three pointer.Â
The Roos finish the regular season with a .500 mark in conference play. They now wait for tomorrow's Summit League action to conclude to find out who they will take on in the first round of the Summit League Basketball Championships in Sioux Falls, S.D. on March 6.
