Four Roos end in double digits in tough-fought battle
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City (10-2, 0-1) fell to a tough South Dakota State (5-7, 1-0) team in their Summit League conference opener, 85-78. Naomie Alnatas had her fourth 20-point performance of the season, followed by Paige Bradford with 17, Brooklyn McDavid with 16, and RaVon Nero with 14 points in the hard-fought battle.

- 2Q / 35-39 | Bradford continued to show her versatility, sinking a triple and bringing KC within striking distance as halftime approached.
- 3Q / 37-41 | A steal by Brooklyn McDavid gave Alnatas quick fast break points early in the second half.
- 3Q / 45-50 | McDavid began to go to work in the third quarter, grabbing one off the offensive glass and putting it back in.
- 4Q / 63-70 | McDavid hit a jumper that started a 7-0 run for the Roos and paced her 10-point fourth quarter.

- 4Q / 68-70 | RaVon Nero added five straight points to the run and got KC fans on their feet with her 12 points in the final frame.
- 4Q / 76-80 | Nero knocked down a shot from downtown and made two from the charity stripe on Kansas City's next possession to bring the Roos within four with 24 seconds remaining for the final push of the game.

- Alnatas paced the Roos with 20 points and six assists.
- Bradford filled up the stat sheet with 17 points, eight rebounds, and three assists on efficient 58.3 percent shooting from the field.
- The Roos dominated the paint, with 40 of the Roos' 78 points coming from inside.
- Nero provided a spark off the bench for the Roos, scoring 14 points, dishing out four assists, and swiping two steals in just 17 minutes.
