Season Highlights
- On the heels of a Winter Storm Warning issued by the National Weather Service Friday evening, the women's basketball game between Kansas City and New Mexico State has been delayed until Sunday, Jan. 12 at noon. The game, initially scheduled for Saturday afternoon, was pushed back due to travel safety concerns.
- The Roos played their first home conference game on Jan. 9, erasing a 14-point halftime deficit to emerge victorious over UTRGV. Kansas City held the Vaqueros to 26% second half shooting, Jonaie Johnson hit the go-ahead lay up and Ericka Mattingly pulled down a huge offensive rebound with 9 seconds remaining to seal the win.
- The Roos were selected third in the preseason WAC coaches and media polls, after placing fourth in the regular season last year.
- Ericka Mattingly leads the Roos in scoring, averaging 16.1 points per game, third in the WAC.
- Kansas City leads the WAC and are 37th nationally in blocks per game (4.7), and four Roos currently rank top 10 in the WAC in blocks per game. This is unchartered territory for the Roos, as last year the team finished fifth in the conference, averaging 2.7.
- After KC opened WAC play with an 11-point victory over Seattle U, Kansas City could not get shots to fall against Utah Valley, falling by 21.
- Kansas City closed non-conference play with a seven wins, the most since 2011-12.
- After falling to Pacific in the first round, Kansas City hosted its first-ever Preseason WNIT games on Nov. 15 & 16, defeating Portland State before falling to Davidson.
- The Roos opened their season with a victory over Denver, who had previously been named to the Mid-Major Top 25.
History vs. NM State
- The Roos have met the Vaqueros 17 times in the past, winning just three of those matchups.
- 13 of the meetings between the two teams have come as WAC opponents, with the first four coming between 1988 and 2012. The Roos posted back-to-back wins in 2005 and 2012, but have just defeated the Aggies once since joining the WAC, a 92-84 victory in February of 2014.
- The Aggies won all three matchups last season, including a 91-80 overtime victory in the WAC Semifinals.
- Both of the regular season meetings were decided by single digits, but the Roos were never able to overcome the Aggies.
- NM State's Gia Pack dropped 32 points and dished seven assists in the first game, before posting a double-double (18 pts/12 reb) on Feb. 28.
- Ericka Mattingly played one of her best games of the season in the WAC Semis, finishing with 37 points and 10 rebounds.

- New Mexico State opened the season with first place votes by both the media and coaches in the Preseason WAC polls.
- The Aggies began the season 3-10, falling to the likes of New Mexico, Arizona State, UTEP and Abilene Christian.Â
- However, they've opened WAC play with back to back victories, knocking off California Baptist and Chicago State.Â
- Preseason WAC Coaches' Player of the Year Gia Pack leads the team, averaging 17.5 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.Â
