Preview: Women's Basketball Prepared for Battle with High-Scoring Denver

- Kansas City begins its 32nd season of NCAA Division I Women's Basketball and seventh year as members of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). Last season, the Roos were 16-15Â overall and finished fourth in the conference standings.
- The Roos open their season against Denver. This will be the seventh time in program history that the two teams meet, with Denver holding a 4-2 all-time advantage and a current two game win-streak.
- The Roos and Pioneers met on Nov. 9 of last year, with Denver earning the 92-75 victory. Ericka Mattingly led the Roos with 23 points and six assists, but the Pioneers were able to force her into eight turnovers.
- Lauren Loven led Denver with 21 points in last year's meeting. Loven returns as a senior this year, coming off of a Summit League Honorable Mention performance in 2018-19.
- The last time these teams met in Kansas City was in 2017, where Denver defeated the Roos, 77-68 in the Roo Holiday Classic.
- Denver averaged 94 points per game in its two exhibition contests. The Pioneers were the 11th highest scoring offensive team in the nation in 2018-19, averaging 80.3 ppg.
- The Roos were also a top-25 scoring offense last season, averaging 76.0 ppg.
