
UMKC to Open Home Slate with Kangaroo Klassic

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After winning the Omaha Classic last weekend thanks to a three-game winning-streak, UMKC volleyball will open the 2016 home schedule by hosting Bradley, Cornell, Northern Iowa, and Omaha in the Kangaroo Klassic on Sept. 9 and 10 at Swinney Recreation Center.
The action is slated to get started on Friday morning with a 10 a.m. CT tilt between Bradley and Omaha. UMKC will play its first match in the tournament at 12:30 p.m., and will be followed by Northern Iowa vs. Omaha at 3 p.m., and Bradley vs. Cornell at 5:30 p.m. UMKC and Northern Iowa will square-off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday night to conclude the first day's action.
Saturday will hold just two matches, as Cornell will face Omaha at 11 a.m. ahead of a 1:30 p.m. tilt between UMKC and Bradley to wrap-up the tournament.
Tickets
Tickets for the Kangaroo Klassic can be purchased online at UMKCKangaroos.com/Tickets or at the Swinney Recreation Center box office. All tickets are general admission and cost $7 per day for the tournament, with groups of 10 or more receiving a discounted rate at $5 per ticket. UMKC volleyball season tickets are also available for $50 per person, or four sets of tickets can be purchased for $100 total.

About the 'Roos
UMKC sits at 5-2 this season after winning all-three of their games in the Omaha Classic. Redshirt senior Emma Hagedorn (Parkville, Mo.) notched her first-career WAC Player of the Week honor for her performance in Omaha, leading the team in kills (39), hitting percentage (.617), kills per set (3.55), block assists (8), and total blocks (10). She recorded a career-high 21 kills in a five-set thriller against Drake, where the 'Roos rallied down two sets to one to beat the Bulldogs.

Following the Kangaroo Klassic, UMKC will travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas, on September 16 and 17 to compete in the Arkansas Invitational. The 'Roos will face Kansas State, Southern Miss and Arkansas across the two days.
