
UMKC Ready for Arkansas Invitational

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Coming off two-straight tournament wins, UMKC volleyball is set to travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas, to play three matches as part of the Arkansas Invitational hosted by the Southeastern Conference's Arkansas Razorbacks.
UMKC will begin the tournament by facing Kansas State of the Big 12, who is nationally ranked No. 25, at 10 a.m. CT on Friday, Sept. 16 ahead of facing Southern Miss on Friday evening at 5 p.m. CT. The 'Roos will then conclude the tournament and their nonconference schedule on Saturday, Sept. 17 when they face Arkansas at Noon.

About the 'Roos
UMKC holds a 7-3 record this season, after winning back-to-back tournaments. The 'Roos posted a 3-0 record in the Omaha Classic, beating Abilene Christian, Drake and Omaha. Senior Emma Hagedorn (Parkville, Mo.) had a career weekend, earning the tournament MVP award and the WAC Player of the Week award for Aug. 29-Sept. 4. Following the Omaha Classic, UMKC hosted the Kangaroo Klassic, posting a 2-1 record to win the tournament. Senior Kaylyn Brandt (Sumner, Iowa) picked up where Hagedorn left off in Omaha, as the Sumner-Fredericksburg High School alumna earned tournament MVP and WAC Player of the Week honors by recording three-straight double-doubles. Freshman Alicia Harrington (Cedar Falls, Iowa) leads UMKC with 107 kills, while Hagedorn holds a team-high .447 hitting percentage. With 372 assists this season, Brandt has 2,368 in her career, ranking third all-time in the UMKC record books.
About the Wildcats
Kansas State sits at 8-2 on the season, but have played just three matches away from home, posting a 2-1 record in away and neutral games. Brooke Sassin leads the Wildcats with 124 kills and Katie Brand had accumulated 428 assists for the team lead. Defensively, Kersten Kober leads K-State with 144 digs and Macy Flowers has tallied 41 total blocks (five solo, 36 assists) to pace the Wildcats.
About the Golden Eagles
Southern Miss currently stands at 9-3 on the season. Stephany Purdue has racked up 176 kills thus far to lead the team, while hitting at a .313 hitting efficiency. Sarah Bell has notched 445 assists and 90 digs, while Natalie Druhan leads the Golden Eagles with 164 digs.
About the Razorbacks
Starting off the season 1-7, Arkansas is looking to get on track with their first home matches of the season. The Razorbacks started the season with a big list of quality opponents, including No. 14 Illinois, No. 4 Kansas and No. 1 Nebraska. Danielle Harbin leads the Razorbacks with 102 kills, while Rachel Rippee and Adrien Wohlschlaeger have paced the offense with 150 and 128 assists, respectively.
