Roos Men Win Pair of Singles Matches, But Lose Dual at UTA

(Arlington, Texas) - The UMKC men's tennis squad played another tight contest on the road Saturday, but UT-Arlington came out on top, winning four tiebreakers for sets in a 5-2 decision.
The Roos (3-3) dropped behind early when UTA (6-3) won doubles matches at both No. 2 and 3, while UMKC had a 5-3 advantage in the No. 1 spot, but it was stopped due to a clinch of the point.
In singles play, UTA won in first set tiebreakers at No. 1, 2, 3 and 4, capturing the momentum of the match. The Roos were able to take match wins at No. 5 and 6 from Amaury Navette and Vinh Pham, including a straight set victory from Navette.
In the other four matches, the second sets didn't go as well for UMKC as UTA took the momentum and coasted to set wins.
UMKC will be back in action next Saturday at home, facing Washburn.
