Roos Push Golden Eagles to the Brink, But Fall 4-2 Friday

(Kansas City, Mo.) - UMKC renewed an old rivalry on Friday afternoon against Oral Roberts, and it was up to the billing as five singles matches went to a third set, but ORU took the 4-2 victory in the end.
UMKC (3-4) won the first doubles match at the No. 2 spot, but ORU (5-4) came right back with a victory at No. 1. The decisive match at No. 3 went to a tiebreaker, but the Golden Eagles took it, 7-3, and what proved to be a huge doubles point.
The singles matches were all tough, with UMKC getting wins at No. 1 and No. 5 from Airam Castellano and Vinh Pham, both in a third set. The Golden Eagles got the victory thanks to winning some clutch points, especially in tiebreakers to decide sets.
UMKC will host Washburn on Saturday at noon at KC Raquet Club.
