
Roos Welcome Vaqueros, Aggies to Close Regular Season

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – UMKC volleyball is set to host the final two matches of the 2016 regular season, as they welcome UT Rio Grande Valley and New Mexico State to Swinney Recreation Center. The Roos will face UTRGV on Thursday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m., and will welcome New Mexico State on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. for senior day.

About the Roos
UMKC (14-11, 7-5 WAC) is led offensively by seniors Emma Hagedorn (Parkville, Mo.) and Madison Mosier (Lee's Summit, Mo.). Hagedorn leads the WAC with a .443 hitting percentage, while Mosier ranks second in the conference with a .340 hitting efficiency. Aiding the potent offensive attack of the Roos is senior Kaylyn Brandt (Sumner, Iowa), who leads the conference in assists per set at 11.08. Totaling 986 on the year thus far, Brandt is looking to move into UMKC's single-season top 10 list in assists, needing 66 to stand alone in 10th-place.
About the Vaqueros
UT Rio Grande Valley (17-12, 6-6 WAC) ranks fifth behind UMKC in the conference standings, and are powered offensively by Ragni Steen Knudsen, who has amassed 403 kills this season, averaging 3.54 per set. Defensively, Barbara Silva has totaled 142 blocks to lead the Vaqueros, and Alexandra Ecker has added 122 total blocks to the UTRGV defensive efforts.
About the Aggies
New Mexico State (21-6, 11-1 WAC) sits atop the WAC standings with a .917 conference winning percentage. Jordan Abalos leads the team with 371 kills, while Brianna Ainsworth has tallied 719 assists to contribute to the offensive efforts.

The Roos will travel to Las Cruces, New Mexico, for the 2016 Western Athletic Conference Tournament. The opening round matches are scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 17, with the semifinals slated for Friday, Nov. 18, and the championship match on Saturday, Nov. 19.
