
Roos Set for WAC Tourney in Las Cruces

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After finishing the regular season with a 15-12 record and posting an 8-6 mark in Western Athletic Conference play, UMKC volleyball headed to Las Cruces, New Mexico, in search of a conference tournament title and an automatic qualifying bid into the NCAA Tournament.
No. 4 UMKC will face No. 5 UT Rio Grande Valley in its opening match of the tournament on Thursday, Nov. 17. The Roos and Vaqueros are slated for a 8:30 p.m. CT match, and the winner will move on to play the top-seeded New Mexico State in the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 18, at 8:30 p.m. The championship match is set for Saturday, Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. CT.

All five matched of the 2016 WAC Volleyball Tournament will be streamed live on the WAC Digital Network via WACSports.com/Watch. Adam Young will cover the play-by-play duties for the entirety of the tournament, with Debbie Hendricks adding color commentary and Jessie Punch reporting from the sidelines. About the Roos
UMKC (15-12, 8-6 WAC) has looked to three seniors the entirety of the year as the cog in the offensive machine. Middle hitter Emma Hagedorn (Parkville, Mo.) leads the WAC in hitting percentage, and ranks second in NCAA Division I with a .441 hitting efficiency. Madison Mosier (Lee's Summit, Mo.) ranks second in the WAC with a .323 hitting percentage to add to the UMKC attack, and Kaylyn Brandt (Sumner, Iowa) leads the conference with 11.05 assists per set, 2.19 more than the next-closest player in the WAC.
About the Vaqueros
UT Rio Grande Valley (18-13, 7-7 WAC) is led offensively by Ragni Steen Knudsen, who has accumulated 427 kills with a .229 hitting percentage. Tina Sekulic leads the Vaqueros with 808 assists, and Fatoumata Dacosta leds the team with 550 digs.
