Roos Welcome ?Runners, Lopes for WAC Matches

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – UMKC volleyball will play its first home matches in Western Athletic Conference play of the season this weekend, hosting CSU Bakersfield and Grand Canyon on Oct. 6 and 8, respectively.
The Roos welcome CSUB to Swinney Recreation Center on Thursday, Oct. 6 with the match scheduled for 7 p.m. CT. UMKC will then host GCU on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. CT.
Tickets
Tickets can be purchased through the UMKC Athletics website at UMKCKangaroos.com/Tickets or at the ticket office at Swinney Rec. on game day, with single-game tickets starting at $7.

Both matches will be streamed live for free through the WAC Digital Network via WACSports.com/Watch with T.J. Jackson on the call. A play-by-play breakdown will be available through UMKC Athletics' official live stats site at UMKCStats.com.
About the Roos
UMKC (8-8, 1-2 WAC) has four players that have 150+ kills this season. Junior Devan Porter (Bettendorf, Iowa) leads the Roos with 161 kills, and senior Emma Hagedorn (Parkville, Mo.) is second on the team with 158. Freshman Alicia Harrington (Cedar Falls, Iowa) ranks third on the team with 154, and senior Madison Mosier (Lee's Summit, Mo.) has 150 kills on the season.
Senior Kaylyn Brandt (Sumner, Iowa) ranks third in UMKC history in career assists, totaling 2,599 in her career thus far, including 603 this season to lead the WAC. Senior Brianna Starr (Blue Springs, Mo.) leads the Roos with 205 digs on the year, and Hagedorn leads the team with 47 total blocks (9 solo, 38 assists).
Along with leading the team in blocks, Hagedorn leads the WAC in hitting percentage at .441, 74 points better than the next closest player, Maja Stojanovic of Seattle U (.367)
Hagedorn was named WAC Player of the Week for the first time in her career for the week of Aug. 29-Sept. 4. Brandt earned UMKC's second WAC Player of the Week award for the week of Sept. 5-11, her first time earning the award.
About the 'Runners
CSU Bakersfield (5-11, 2-1 WAC) is led offensively by Carol Grasso, who has recorded a team-high 168 kills. Fabiana Andrade leads the 'Runners with 303 kills, and Jocelyn Rodriguez has tallied a team-high 173 digs.
About the Lopes
Grand Canyon (4-11, 0-3 WAC) is powered offensively by Natalie Tardy, who has recorded a team-best 151 kills this season. The majority of the GCU offense goes through setter Heidi Carpenter, who has recorded a team-high 394 assists. Emma Ahearn and Hannah Hicks are major factors in the Lopes' defensive efforts, with Ahearn leading the team with 126 digs and Hicks recorded a team-best 46 total blocks.
